Lately, I feel like I’ve been living Groundhog Day. Same thing day in and day out. Breakfast demands happen on que, temper tantrum same time and over the same thing. Same activities, same Bat place, same Bat time!
Life, for me, if becoming a little predictable. I am no means complaining because I am loving life. I am watching my kids grow up, how many people get that opportunity? Not many. I just need a little something different, something to shake things up. I need to do something for myself.
So, I did something about it.
I know right. Most people complain, or vent about there life but don’t do anything to change it. I’ve actually done a number of things.
1.I wake up between 5:15 am and 5:30 am. I know what you’re thinking – Whoa! Who wakes up that early, only crazy people. Well I wake this early so that I can go for a run. I know double Whoa!! I do this 3 days a week, no crazy long distance (I need to be back, showered and dressed before my husband goes to work). But I’ve noticed a difference in my mood, the way I act (calmer), I sleep better and my eating habits, such an improvement. My husband even said I hold my head up a little higher now. Great! This is going amazing, seeing a difference immediately. This is something I love – running – so I am going to make time for it.
What else have I changed or done for myself.
2. Gardening. I’ve made a point to go out every single day for at least 10 minutes. That’s 10 minutes. I water all the veggies. I show Scarlett the progress that it’s made when we spend 10 minutes in the garden. Pulling all the weeds. Making little changes to make the outside more enjoyable for us. I’m in the progress of making myself a little sitting area for when the kids are outside playing. A breath of fresh air does the soul some good!
These little things have helped immensely. But wait, the fun doesn’t stop there.
3. I’ve signed up for classes. Yes, classes, painting classes. I have missed my creative outlet more than I realized. I am going to a furniture painting class this weekend and a ‘Paint Nite’ with a girl friend. I will go into detail a little more on a future post.
4. The last things I’ve incorporated in my day is watercolour paints. I am teaching myself how to use watercolour paints, and I must say, I am impressed with myself.
Doing things for myself, by myself are making me a better Mum and person. I like having a schedule, I like knowing what’s coming next… but at the same time I don’t. I like having things to look forward to, other than swimming lessons or a play date.
